While I’m not a particularly religious person, I do believe in the essence of a soul not only for people but also for things.
I’m an old-ish soul. I think I’ve been around the block a few times and generally am attracted to the same.
I like old houses, watches, cars, and vintage clothes. I surround myself with things from the past. Even my closest friends are what most would call “old souls”.
One of my favorite pastimes is trolling flea markets. I’m inexplicably drawn to old things with time-worn character. Humble, everyday household objects that show the wear and tear of time, but are still lovingly kept and used, hold a particular place in my heart.
We live in a political time where power and money seem to take priority over people or their craft. We’re becoming a soulless society.
Perhaps my obsession with flea markets and vintage finds is a way to remind myself that #soulmatters.
